What is so Significant About a Westercon?

This is the 56^th Westercon.For 55 years fans of Science Fiction and Fantasy from across the Western United States and Canada have been able to meet together to discuss and share all that is fascinating and fantastic within this genre.The demographics of this market support far larger endeavors than this, anyone familiar with channels such as the SciFi Channel on cable can attest to that. Canada , also a part of this regional area has a similar channel dedicated to the Science Fiction genre.Books and Movies such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are on the tips of everyone’s tongue in the mainstream of the Science Fiction and Fantasy marketplace.

The fans and professionals that come together for conventions like Westercon are not only interested in these mainstream books and movies.There is a strong interest in the future and all things related to making that future a better place.The theme of the Seattle Westercon 56 is “Magic through Technology” and in keeping with this theme, we are seeking out companies and individuals with creations and technologies they want to showcase.We want to exhibit the things of tomorrow, which exist today in prototype or as newly available miracles of modern science and technology.
